			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Laval, March 20, 2012 – The 2012 Hydro-Québec Montreal Regional Science &amp; Technology Fair wrapped up this evening with the awards ceremony. Prizes with a total value of nearly $45,000 were awarded in recognition of outstanding achievements by the up-and-coming generation of scientists in the region.</br><br />
</br><br />
For the occasion, Laval Liberty and Laval Junior High Schools of the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board played host to more than 300 exhibitors from throughout the region. From March 18 to 20, these budding scientists presented more than 200 competing projects to more than 4,500 visitors. The event was organized by the Educational Alliance for Science &amp; Technology (EAST), in co-operation with the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board.</br><br />
</br><br />
Twelve (12) projects from this level of the Science and Technology Fair, which showcases the talent and drive of young students, will now go on to represent the region at the 2012 Super Expo-sciences Hydro‑Québec, Québec Final, to be held April 19 to 22 at the Centre culturel de l’Université de Sherbrooke.</br><br />

The Hydro-Québec First Prize, awarded to the best overall project, all categories combined, at the regional final, went to Tamar Sifri of The Study for her project entitled; The Battle Against Aging.</br><br />

The Hydro-Québec Science Fairs are made possible with support from presenting partner Hydro Québec, as well as major financial partners including Bell, the Ministère du Développement économique, de l’Innovation et de l’Exportation du Québec, as well as Merck Canada, which has supported the Science Fair’s Experimentation type of projects for more than 20 years.</br><br />

The Hydro-Québec Science Fair is one-of-a-kind competition in which more than 15,000 young Québecers take part every year, presenting projects in three categories: Experimentation, Design and Study. The projects cover a wide variety of fields, including environment, engineering, chemistry, physics, health sciences and more! In Québec, the CDLS-CLS Network partners are the project managers of the Science Fair movement.</br><br />
